TANTA x AKIRO
A NIKKEI COLLABORATION DINNER AT TANTA CHICAGO
On Saturday, April 4, Tanta Chicago hosts a special collaboration dinner with Akiro, bringing together two culinary perspectives to celebrate the deep connection between Peruvian and Japanese cuisine.
The evening commemorates 127 years since the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to Peru, a cultural exchange that would later give rise to Nikkei cuisine — one of the most dynamic and influential expressions of modern Peruvian gastronomy.
For this one-night experience, guests will enjoy a twelve-bite tasting menu presented throughout the evening in an intercalated sequence between both restaurants.
From Akiro, the menu will feature a selection of their most recognized creations, including three nigiri and three handrolls, showcasing the precision and contemporary style that defines their approach to Japanese cuisine.
From Tanta, the team will create a series of dishes exclusively for the occasion: two nigiri, two handrolls, and two warm dishes designed to be shared, offering a flavorful contrast and balance within the progression of the menu.
The evening begins with a welcome cocktail and a bite from Akiro, before guests move into the full tasting experience.
Rather than highlighting individual chefs, the dinner is conceived as a collaboration between two restaurant concepts, allowing guests to explore the dialogue between Japanese technique and Peruvian flavor through a carefully curated sequence of dishes.
With limited seating available, the event offers an intimate opportunity to experience the intersection of two culinary traditions that continue to shape contemporary dining.
